KATHMANDU, May 24 - The 3rd Israeli Film Festival is to be held at the Russian Culture Centre, Kamalpokhari from the 27th to the 29th of May. In a press release the Israeli Embassy said, the movies selected for the festival will expose the viewers to a fascinating facet of modern Israeli culture. The following movies will be screened during the festival: Free Zone (May 27th, 3.30 pm), Sallah Shabati (May 27th, 5.45 pm), Joy (May 28th, 3.30 pm), Someone to Run With (May 28th, 5.45 pm), The Syrian Bride (May 29th, 3.30 pm) and Aviva My Love (May 29th, 5.45 pm). Most of the above movies are winners of the international film awards. “Free Zone” won the Best Actress award at 58th Cannes Film Festival in 2005. “Sallah Shabati” became the first Israeli Film to be nominated in Academy Award in 1964 in the category best foreign language film. “Someone to run with” based on the novel of famous writer David Grossman won two awards in Maimi Film Festival in 2007. “The Syrian Bride” received awards in the Flanders International Film Festival, Lacarno International Film Festival and Montreal World Film Festival. And, “Aviva my Love” bagged 10 awards in Israel, Shanghai and Tokyo. The Embassy said that it was confident that such cultural activities will serve as a bridge and a medium to bring peoples of our two countries culturally further closer and strengthen people to people relations. Free passes are available at the Embassy of Israel or on the day of the show, at the Russian Cultural Centre, Kamalpokhari.
