KATHMANDU, March 3 - A total of seven parliamentarians of Nepali Congress and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) on Monday announced to quit the interim parliament and their respective parties. Also another NC leader of Dhankuta has resigned from the party.

Lawmakers including NC central committee members Bijay Kumar Gacchadhar and Sarad Singh Bhandari resigned from the party to join the Upendra Yadav led Madhesi People’s Rights Forum (MPRF) today.

Lawmaker Abhishek Pratap Shah of RPP, NC lawmakers Laxman Prasad Mehta, Mangal Tharu, Ram Janam Chaudhary, Hari Narayan Chaudhary and Sukraraj Sanyog are the other six lawmakers who resigned from the party and the parliament.

NC leader Arjun Thapa of Dhankuta also resigned from the party along with the parliamentarians.

The NC had previously provided Gachhadhar and Bhandari party tickets for the upcoming April 10 Constituent Assembly elections under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) system. However, their tickets had been scrapped after they announced to boycott filing their nominations for the polls.
